Purple is synonymous with regalia. While I won’t be ascending any thrones, purple is a great shade to throw on, especially with charcoal and black. The right accessories can really add a pop to an otherwise simple look. This fall, opt for subtle color by adding on these extras. Went on a little drive to Greenwich, CT. It’s our little weekend getaway for delicious food and fun shopping. I opted for a Polka Dot shirt, which is a print that’s growing more and more in menswear. What was once solely in ties and pocket squares, dots are hot this year. I donned a wheat selvedge jean to play off the light dot and contrast the blue shade. I went with some classic sneakers to relax and shop.

We enjoyed delectable crepes at Meli-Melo. The highlight of shopping was stopping in the Steven Alan store.

Between the leather goods, eyewear, and crisp denim, it’s a great spot to check out.

Mixing it up with different patterns combined together into one cohesive look. I’m rocking a linen/wool blazer that has light blue and charcoal within the beige color. Despite the fact that the jacket is patterned, I still opted for a gingham shirt since the blue shade was present in both. The tie has specks of beige, light blue and grey, which makes it tie everything together. The wood tie bar, courtesy of DIBI ties, adds a bit of panache as well.

On this cloudy day I opted for an extra layer with the toggle cardigan. I went with a new slim plaid shirt as well, which had similar colors to the cardigan. The caramel chinos are one of my most versatile pieces and you’ll be seeing a lot more of it this fall. A tie and some leather boots would take this look to the office, but the Vans make it the perfect look for this sleepy, rainy day. Nothing to do but relax and sip a pumpkin spice latte.

As August progresses the weather can change drastically from midday to night. A warm day can turn into a breezy, downright cold evening. The right layers set you up for whatever brings you on a day like today. The knit blazer I’m wearing, from Uniqlo, is like that thin cardigan you throw on when the temps dip into the 60s. I also went with warm and cool shades with the colors I’m wearing, all brought together by the vibrant floral print pocket square from Pocket Square Clothing.

As summer winds down, I’m embracing all the warm weather pieces I can’t wear in a short time. The bright gingham shirt exemplifies this. The temps will hit in the low 80s, thus the cuffed sleeves will keep me cool and soak up some sun. I threw on a lightweight vest which I opted for because I love the pink and grey combination. The inky blue jeans are matched by the tie too. Enjoy the summer while it lasts!

My lumberjack tendencies are starting to creep back as the days get shorter and my beard gets longer. The tie bar, courtesy of DIBI Ties, is made out of wood, which truly brings out my tree-downing style. I went with a light brown wingtip boot to complement the colors of the spread collar shirt. The end of summer is bittersweet for me. Sure, it’s nice to have warm weather and long days. But who could say no to football on Sundays and donning a super-soft cashmere sweater (maybe not together, but I digress). The change of seasons usually brings in an interesting shift in fashion and transitional wardrobing ensues. Nothing more encapsulates that than a brightly colored wool tie, like the plaid one I’m wearing today courtesy of Pocket Square Clothing. I broke out the bottoms of a suit, which work well separately since it’s cotton. Wingtips and the all black watch complete the look.

On this cooler August day, I layered up with denim over a plaid woven. Denim jackets have been a big trend this year, but I opted for a denim shirt instead. Had the day off today and I ran a few errands. There’s no better way to run errands or even run, for that matter, than with the Nike Free Runs I’m rocking today. I decided to play off the charcoal, white and chartreuse from the kicks in the rest of the look. Layering under a jacket can either dress up or dress down a look. While I’ll do sweaters or vests under the blazer, today I did a brightly colored sweatshirt, which is right on for the colder seasons coming up and great for a casual day. I’m also looking forward to wearing the black slim jeans too. The inky denim is easy to match and is instantly slimming.
